The Marshall Building – Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London
Outright Winner of the 2020 Concrete Society Awards
Concrete waterproofed with the Caltite admixture from Cementaid played a significant role in the construction of The Marshall Building which will form part of the world-famous London School of Economics. The use of the Caltite system resulted in simpler detailing, time-saving and general ease of construction for this project.
A visually striking design by Grafton Architects and featuring innovative engineering solutions from structural engineers AKT II. The double-height basement even houses a multi-purpose sports hall. The groundworks sub-contractor, Getjar, placed over 1,200m3 of Caltite waterproof concrete as a simple topping to the basement raft slab and in the various lift pits achieving Grade 3 performance in line with BS 8102:2009.
